Managed Zello vs GroupTalk comes down to who runs the system and where the vendor sells. For a US operations team, our recommendation is Managed Zello. It is fully managed by Integrated Radio, with full enterprise MDM on every device and multi-carrier LTE coverage, SIM and data plan included. GroupTalk, now owned by AddSecure, is a capable Swedish platform with a strong safety toolset and a European sales footprint. Integrated Radio sells Managed Zello, so weigh our view with that in mind.
The short version

US presence | US reseller | Offices in Sweden and Norway; no US office or US reseller named on its website |

Emergency Alerts are not a substitute for 911 or code-required life-safety systems.
Is GroupTalk sold in the US?
We looked for a clear yes and could not find one. GroupTalk’s offices page lists Uppsala, Sweden and Oslo, Norway. Its about page says it works with “selected international sales partners,” and its FAQ mentions a limited number of resellers, but the pages we read name none in the US.
AddSecure’s location menu offers European countries plus “UK and Global,” with no US entry. When it bought GroupTalk in May 2025, AddSecure called itself a leading European provider and said the deal would support international growth. Prices are shown in euros.
None of that stops you from using it here. GroupTalk says the app works worldwide over 4G, 5G or Wi-Fi, and its 14-day trial form lists the United States as a country option. We would call it available to try and Europe-focused to buy. If it interests you, ask who signs your contract, who invoices you, and who answers when a device stops talking.
Who does the setup and the admin
GroupTalk gives your administrators a web console to add or remove users, create talkgroups, control features and set permissions in real time. Its FAQ describes the job as simple. It is still your job, and it lands on someone’s desk every time a crew changes.
With Managed Zello, that work moves to us. We handle channel design and setup, user provisioning and naming standards, roles and permissions, moves, adds and changes, and ongoing administration. Devices arrive charged, labeled and signed in to Zello with your channels.
MDM, SIMs and coverage
GroupTalk’s pages describe the communication service in depth. We did not find device management or a SIM and data plan on its website, so ask about both and budget for them until a seller tells you otherwise. AddSecure lists 4G, 5G, private 5G, Wi-Fi and satellite as supported networks.
Every Managed Zello plan includes enterprise MDM: enrollment and policies, app controls and Wi-Fi configuration, a push-to-talk key mapped per device, and remote lock, wipe and locate. The multi-carrier SIM and data plan comes activated and managed.
FCC data shows 99.6% of Americans live where at least one mobile network offers 4G LTE (FCC 2024 Communications Marketplace Report). Your sites are what matter, so every quote starts with a free coverage check. Our guide to what nationwide coverage actually means explains why.
Devices
GroupTalk runs on iPhone, Android, tablets, Windows and Mac. It also offers its own radios, including the GT15, rents radio packages for events and projects, and has ATEX options through partners such as Pepperl+Fuchs.
Zello Work runs on iOS, Android, PC and Mac. Our store carries Inrico, Telox and Sonim radios plus the Samsung Galaxy XCover7 Pro, with radios from $199. You can also enroll compatible devices you own.
Dispatch, alarms and workforce safety
This is GroupTalk’s best ground. Its personal alarm sends real-time location and lets the right people listen in. PC Dispatch handles multiple groups, call queues, panic alarms, live location, remote listen-in and alert messages from a browser. It also lists call recording and full-duplex calls with live video.
Zello Dispatch Hub is a desktop app for PC and Mac with a shared call queue and dispatch analytics on both plans. Managed Zello Plus adds Emergency Alerts with location, transcription, the Message Vault archive and historical breadcrumbs. Emergency Alerts are not a substitute for 911 or code-required life-safety systems, and Zello is not a replacement for a public-safety primary radio system.
Interoperability
Both connect to traditional radios. GroupTalk uses a radio bridge linking two-way radios to smartphones and PC Dispatch, and it lists APIs and resource sharing across organizations. Zello Work uses a radio gateway, with gateway hardware scoped per site and quoted separately, plus APIs, SDKs and Crosslink with outside organizations.
Price transparency
GroupTalk’s headline is lower, and we won’t pretend otherwise. It starts at €8 per user per month, with daily, monthly and annual licenses. Its page presents personal alarm and PC Dispatch as extra features, and platform costs for private cloud and on-prem are on request.
Compare like with like before you decide. Add the SIM, the data, MDM and the staff hours for administration to any software-only figure. Managed Zello bundles those at $24.95 or $34.95 per user per month, with no minimum and no lock-in. Hardware is separate.
When GroupTalk might fit better
Your teams work mainly in Europe and you want a European vendor and contract.
You need on-premise or private cloud hosting. On Zello, on-premise servers and SSO are Zello Enterprise, available on request, and are not in Core or Plus.
You want SSO and Active Directory integration in a standard offer.
You need licenses by the day for events or short projects.
Live video and a personal alarm with listen-in are central, and your own admins are ready to run the system.
Our recommendation
For most US teams, we think Managed Zello is the better buy because one provider owns the whole system. Choose Core at $24.95 if your crews need live voice, unlimited channels, texts, photos and real-time location. Choose Plus at $34.95 if you also need AI Digests, transcription, translations, an archive or Emergency Alerts. Emergency Alerts are not a substitute for 911 or code-required life-safety systems. Our Core vs Plus guide walks through the choice.
Add a Dispatch Hub seat at $19.95 per dispatcher per month on either plan. Request a quote and we will start with a free coverage check of your sites.
