Managed Zello vs Team on the Run: PTT or an all-in-one app?
Team on the Run bundles messaging, forms, field service and PTT. Managed Zello gives you radios that are run for you. Here’s how to pick the right one.
Integrated Radio Team
·

Managed Zello vs Team on the Run is really a question about what you’re buying. STREAMWIDE’s Team on the Run is a workplace platform with messaging, video, digital forms, field service management and push-to-talk in one app. Managed Zello is Zello Work fully managed by Integrated Radio, with full enterprise MDM on every device and multi-carrier LTE coverage, SIM and data plan included. If your problem is getting crews on the radio and keeping them there, our verdict is Managed Zello. If you’re digitizing paper workflows, Team on the Run earns a look. We sell Managed Zello, so factor that in.

Two very different products
Read STREAMWIDE’s brochure and push-to-talk appears as one line among many. There’s private and group messaging, video, conferencing, screen sharing, a whiteboard, business process management, a digital crisis briefcase, telephony through your PBX, geofencing, alerts, patrol routes and field service management. Its My Business module replaces paper forms and approvals.
That’s a lot of capability, and for the right company it could retire several tools. It’s also a project. Somebody has to decide which processes move, build the forms and train people to use them. A radio replacement, by comparison, has one job. A guard presses a button and the supervisor hears them.
Who does the setup and the admin
STREAMWIDE’s materials describe an administrator running the platform: bulk user updates, departments, profiles, call barring lists and group rights. Its release notes also say certain features “require activation by your organization” and tell you to contact your reseller. So you should expect a mix of your own admin and a partner. A hands-off managed service is not published on its website.
With Managed Zello, the admin is our job on every plan. That covers channel design and setup, user provisioning and naming standards, roles and permissions, moves, adds and changes, and ongoing administration. Your operations manager doesn’t need to become a system administrator.
MDM and device control
STREAMWIDE’s release notes mention “MDM users” pushing app configuration to many devices at once. That tells you Team on the Run is built to sit alongside a device management tool. A bundled one is not published on its website, so ask who supplies it and what it costs.
Every Managed Zello device is under enterprise MDM as part of the plan. That means enrollment and policies, app controls and Wi-Fi configuration, the push-to-talk key mapped per device, and remote lock, wipe and locate. Devices arrive charged, labeled and signed in to Zello with your channels.
Coverage and carrier choice
Team on the Run is software. It runs over your data connection, and STREAMWIDE’s site doesn’t publish a SIM or data bundle, so carrier selection and data plans look like your task. That’s fine if your phones are already on a corporate plan and the coverage suits your sites.
Managed Zello includes a multi-carrier SIM and data plan, with activation and management handled for you. Coverage depends on where you work, so every quote starts with a free coverage check. Nobody can honestly promise coverage everywhere. Our guide to what “nationwide coverage” actually means covers the questions to ask.
Devices
STREAMWIDE lists smartphones, tablets, budget phones, rugged and ATEX devices, and a Small Form version for non-touchscreen phones. The iPhone app needs iOS 16.6 or later, and you’ll need a login ID from your company before it does anything. It’s an app-first approach, and device sourcing is not spelled out on the pages we read.
We sell radios and rugged phones from Inrico, Telox, Sonim and Samsung, with radios from $199, or we enroll compatible devices you own. A crew that’s used to a two-way radio can stay with a radio-shaped device.
Dispatch and radios
Team on the Run’s dispatch runs in WebChat, a browser interface. Dispatchers can see location, location history, speed and idle time, monitor multiple channels and talk over PTT or VoIP. Its 4.0 release notes describe transmitting to up to ten channels at once. No install is a plus.
Zello Dispatch Hub is a desktop app for PC and Mac at $19.95 per dispatcher per month on either plan, with a shared call queue and dispatch analytics. Transcription and Emergency Alerts need Plus, and Emergency Alerts are not a substitute for 911 or code-required life-safety systems.
For existing radios, STREAMWIDE’s brochure mentions LMR interoperability, and a March 2026 release with Catalyst Communications covers LMR interworking for its customers, naming both Team on Mission and Team on the Run. Ask how that’s scoped and priced for a commercial site. Ours runs through a radio gateway, with hardware scoped per site and quoted separately.
Buying Team on the Run in the US
You can. STREAMWIDE is headquartered in Paris and lists a US/CALA headquarters in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, with sales, R&D and support. The brochure says American customers’ data is processed and stored in the US. AT&T also selected STREAMWIDE in 2025 to power its next-generation mission-critical solution for FirstNet, a sign of its US presence, though that release doesn’t name Team on the Run.
The product comes in two packages. Team on the Run covers business-critical work, and Premium adds 3GPP MCX capabilities à la carte. You start with a demo or a reseller. We found no public price on STREAMWIDE’s site, and the app itself is a free download that does nothing without a company ID. Since features are activated individually, ask for an itemized quote.
When Team on the Run might fit better
It’s the better fit in these cases, and we’d say so on a call:
You want one app to replace forms, approvals and scheduling as well as the radio. Facilities and field service teams are the natural buyers.
You handle protected health information. STREAMWIDE states HIPAA compliance for Team on the Run. HIPAA support is Zello Enterprise, available on request, and not in Core or Plus.
You need on-premise hosting. It’s a listed option here. On the Zello side, it’s Zello Enterprise on request.
Video conferencing or PBX telephony belongs in the same app. Neither is on the Core or Plus feature list.
You’re a public safety user with MCX needs. Zello is not a replacement for a public-safety primary radio system.
Our recommendation
Most operations managers looking at push-to-talk want dependable voice with no new system to run. For them we recommend Managed Zello, fully managed by Integrated Radio, with full enterprise MDM on every device and multi-carrier LTE coverage, SIM and data plan included. There’s no minimum and no lock-in.
Core at $24.95 per user per month suits teams that need live voice, unlimited channels, texts, photos and real-time location. Plus at $34.95 adds Message Vault, Transcription, Translations, AI Digests, the AI Assistant, breadcrumb history and Emergency Alerts with location. Emergency Alerts are not a substitute for 911 or code-required life-safety systems. Compare them in our Core vs Plus guide.
On rugged smartphones only, Managed Zello plus Unlimited Talk, Text & Data is $64.95 with Core and $74.95 with Plus. Request a quote, and we’ll start with a free coverage check of your sites.
