Managed Zello vs Mobile Tornado: who runs your push-to-talk?
Mobile Tornado now sells in the US through dealers, with its own radios and SIM partner. Here’s how it compares with Managed Zello on price and who does the work.
Integrated Radio Team
·

Managed Zello vs Mobile Tornado is a closer contest than most push-to-talk comparisons. Mobile Tornado now has a US arm, US hosting, its own pre-loaded radios and a multi-network SIM partner, so it’s trying to solve the same problem we are. We still recommend Managed Zello for most US teams, for three reasons: you can see the price before you talk to anyone, full enterprise MDM is on every device on every plan, and Integrated Radio is the one party doing the work. We sell Managed Zello, so read this with that in mind.

What Mobile Tornado is today
Mobile Tornado is a UK company with more than 20 years in push-to-talk over cellular, used in over 30 countries according to its site. In November 2025 it bought Priority Push-to-Talk in Indianapolis and turned it into Mobile Tornado USA. The platform is hosted in a geo-redundant US data center, and the US business serves dealers and end-user organizations.
So yes, it’s available here. The site’s center of gravity is the channel, though. The home page asks visitors to become a reseller, a plan upgrade goes through “your Mobile Tornado account manager or authorised reseller partner,” and the app and dispatch console can both be white-labelled. The name on your radio and your invoice may be your dealer’s.
Who does the setup and the admin
That channel model makes this question important. A Mobile Tornado partner gets structured onboarding, a portal and technical support. Mobile Tornado’s site doesn’t set out what a dealer must do for you afterward, so the answer varies by who you buy from. A good dealer could do a lot. You’ll want it in writing.
Questions to put to any Mobile Tornado dealer:
Who designs our groups and names our users?
Who handles a new hire or a lost device, and how fast?
Is the data plan inside the per-user price?
Which plan does each device model support?
Integrated Radio is a reseller too, so a middleman isn’t the problem in itself. Our scope is published. Every plan includes channel design and setup, user provisioning and naming standards, roles and permissions, moves, adds and changes, and ongoing administration. Read what’s in Managed Zello and hold us to it.
MDM: included, but check the tier
Credit where it’s due. TornadoControl is a real kiosk and MDM product, and TornadoControl+ adds geofenced policies, over-the-air updates and reporting through a partnership with SOTI. It comes with Standard and Premium. The FAQ says it can be added to Basic.
The catch is that your MDM depends on the plan, and on whether you need the plus version. Managed Zello includes full enterprise MDM on every device at every price: enrollment and policies, app controls and Wi-Fi configuration, the push-to-talk key mapped per device, and remote lock, wipe and locate.
Coverage and carrier choice
Mobile Tornado USA works with Simplex Wireless, whose IoT data SIMs select from multiple networks automatically. That’s the same instinct behind our multi-carrier approach, and a sensible one. What the pages we read don’t say is which US networks are in use or whether the SIM is inside the plan price.
With Managed Zello, multi-carrier LTE coverage comes standard, with SIM and data plan included and activation handled for you. Coverage depends on the sites you operate, so every quote starts with a free coverage check. We won’t promise coverage everywhere. If you’re weighing coverage claims from anyone, read what “nationwide coverage” actually means.
Devices
Mobile Tornado’s US range is the MT110 (screenless), MT120 (compact with screen) and MT130 (in-vehicle), white-labelled and pre-installed, available to buy or rent through its partners. Its April 2026 launch post pairs the MT110 with Basic, and the MT120 and MT130 with Basic and Standard. If you want Premium features on one of them, check that first. The app also runs on Android and iOS phones.
Our device range includes the Inrico T640A, T522A, S380 and TM-7Plus, Telox TE320 and M3, Sonim XP5plus and XP Pro, and Samsung Galaxy XCover7 Pro, or you can enroll compatible devices you own. Radios start at $199, and they arrive charged, labeled and signed in to Zello with your channels. We don’t publish a rental option, so that’s one for Mobile Tornado’s column.
Dispatch and radio interoperability
TornadoCommander runs on Windows or the web, with live and historical GPS, geofencing, SOS alerts and recording. It’s listed as an add-on, and so are TornadoRecord for recording and TornadoConnect for radio links. Expect several lines on a Mobile Tornado quote, so ask to see each one.
Zello Dispatch Hub is $19.95 per dispatcher per month on either plan, on PC and Mac. A radio gateway connects traditional radios, with hardware scoped per site and quoted separately. So we have extra lines too, and they’re easy to see. TornadoConnect’s DMR, TETRA and P25 support, without a donor radio according to its FAQ, is a strong offering for mixed fleets.
Pricing transparency
Mobile Tornado has a page titled pricing. It compares features across plans and shows no dollar figures. We have no reason to think its pricing is high. You just can’t budget until a dealer quotes you, and two dealers may quote differently.
Managed Zello is $24.95 for Core and $34.95 for Plus per user per month, with no minimum and no lock-in. Hardware is separate. You can run the math today.
When Mobile Tornado might fit better
You run guards or lone workers. TornadoPatrol, TornadoSafe and TornadoTask are named modules for patrol monitoring, lone worker checks and task compliance.
You need live video. TornadoVision is included in every plan. It isn’t on the Core and Plus feature lists we sell from.
You already have a dealer you trust who sells it and will commit to the admin scope in writing.
You want to rent devices, or you’re a dealer looking for a white-label platform of your own.
Our recommendation
Unless one of those fits, we’d go with Managed Zello. It’s Zello Work fully managed by Integrated Radio, with full enterprise MDM on every device and multi-carrier LTE coverage, SIM and data plan included, at a price you can see.
Pick Core at $24.95 if you need live voice, unlimited channels, texts, photos, and real-time location and status. Pick Plus at $34.95 if you also need Message Vault, Transcription, Translations, AI Digests, the AI Assistant, breadcrumb history or Emergency Alerts with location. Emergency Alerts are not a substitute for 911 or code-required life-safety systems. Our Core vs Plus guide breaks it down.
On rugged smartphones only, Managed Zello plus Unlimited Talk, Text & Data is $64.95 with Core and $74.95 with Plus. Get a Mobile Tornado quote too if you like, then compare it line by line against our quote. It starts with a free coverage check.

How much does Mobile Tornado cost?
Prices are not published on mobiletornado.com, so ask a partner for a quote. Ask whether SIM, data, dispatch and recording are included in it.
Can I buy Mobile Tornado directly?
The US business says it serves dealers and end-user organizations, and its devices are sold or rented through its authorized partner network. Expect to be pointed to a partner or account manager.
Does Mobile Tornado include MDM?
TornadoControl is part of the Standard and Premium plans and can be added to Basic. Managed Zello includes full enterprise MDM on every plan.
